MAGNOLIA POINT PRESERVE

MAGNOLIA POINT PRESERVE

In the heart of Melbourne, tucked away east of the airport, Apollo Boulevard, and the railroad but west of South Magnolia Avenue and Almar homes lies twenty-two acres of undeveloped property that has escaped the frenzy of construction for nearly a century.

This property is being threatened with development of nine 10,000 square foot warehouses. The project includes "moonscaping" the area, removing all but a few dozen trees to be replaced by saplings in containers. However, the owner has expressed an interest in selling this acreage. The Trust for Public Lands, and our own EELS (Environmentally Endangered Lands) program have stepped up to support the purchase of this precious region. Now your help is needed.

Please take the time to make a step in the right direction by sending Melbourne City Council members a message about the importance of establishing a Nature Park in the heart of Melbourne. Citywide support is essential to help make this acquisition a reality.

Future residents of Melbourne will thank you.
